Microsoft's announcement that it will be adding all its major first-party titles to Xbox Games Pass hasn't gone down too well with retailers.
After the publisher and developer announced plans to add all future first-party games to the subscription service last week, gamers around the world celebrated... but not everyone took the news well.
Shortly after the announcement, Austrian retailer Gameware declared it would no longer stock Xbox products in protest of the move.
The retailer argued that Xbox's actions would directly impact its business, asking why players would bother to visit retail stores if all their games came as part of an online subscription service.
Following this, a series of UK retailers have also announced their plans to suspend sales of Xbox products.
Speaking to a GamesIndustry.biz, a selection of retailers have outlined why they're removing Xbox stock from their stores in response to the Xbox Games Pass plans.
"Essentially, it's made [our Xbox business] worthless overnight," Stuart Benson of Leicestershire store Extreme Gamez told the site.
"You've got the whole section sat there, and why would people buy a £12 to £15 second-hand game when they can just pay a tenner and get a massive catalogue of titles to keep them going? Effectively overnight they've wiped massive value off our company and made it not worth doing.
